Citation Impact

Citation Impact is a page-level view of which individual URLs actually drive your presence in AI answers, so effort goes to the few pages doing the work rather than being spread evenly across everything.

The problem

Citation lists get long fast. A few hundred URLs across a few dozen prompts is normal, and staring at that list tells you nothing about where to spend Monday.

The distribution is never even. A small number of pages carry most of your presence, and without ranking them you will treat a page cited once the same as one cited across half your prompts.

How it works

  1. Citations are aggregated per page

Not per domain and not per prompt. The unit is the individual URL, because that is the thing you can actually go and improve.

  2. Ranked by how much presence they carry

So the top of the list is the short set of pages worth your attention.

  3. Filter by period

Look at the whole history or a recent window, to separate pages that used to work from pages working now.

  4. Verify the brand is on the page

Check whether your brand actually appears on a cited page, so you can tell a page that helps you from one that simply got cited.

What you see

Who it's for. Anyone with a citation list too long to act on, who needs to know the five pages that matter before planning next quarter.

Frequently asked questions

How is impact worked out?

By aggregating citations to the individual page level across your tracked prompts and engines, then ranking pages by how much of your presence they account for.

Why page level rather than domain level?

Because a domain is not something you can fix. A page is.

Does a high-impact page always mention my brand?

No, and that is worth knowing. A page can be cited heavily for a prompt in your category without naming you at all, which makes it a target rather than an asset. The brand-on-page check exists for exactly this.
